You could travel to medieval villages, sip exceptional wines in the very region in which the grapes are cultivated, have fresh French croissants for breakfast, sample some of the finest beers of the world in Belgium, or see baroque castles as you cruise past. Your boat can be stopped at most places along the canals. This allows you to walk the tow path, or meander into town for a visit, some shopping, or to take a meal at your leisure.

Your food and meals are not included in these boats, which could be interpreted as a good thing as this, while potentially expensive, will give you the opportunity to sample local fare. In some of the cruising regions the local foods are delicasies to be savoured. You may have cassoulet, or sample seafood in the French South West. Beaucire in the Camargue region offers more Mediterranean fare. Plus you may partake in the distinctive wine of the Carmarge region. You may choose to purchase local produce and prepare it in the well appointed galley, or opt for a restaurant, bistro, or cafe while ashore.
The boat comes equipped with safety and fire fighting equipment. In the galley you will have a fridge, gas stove, oven, grill, cutlery, crockery, and saucepans. In the cabins you will be supplied with a duvet, pillow, fresh sheets, most cabins have ensuite heads. The boat may usually be hired for one or two weeks, although short breaks and alternative durations can be arranged. You will be given a 'Captain 's Log' that contains information about places of interest. You will have a large scale map of your route with information such as where to moor, or fill up the water tank. Before you begin your journey you will be given a lesson about how to manouver your boat, and be issued with a temporary boat licence. This is not a high speed holiday, the speed limit on most of the canals is 4 mph and 6mph on the rivers.

You can explore some of the most beautiful, and ancient parts of Europe at your own pace, without the need to pack and unpack. A suggested itinerary will be given to you, however the only part of it you need stick to is the start and return time of your boat. Please, call us for more information, or to get a brochure. If you preffer, you may request more information at the request form on The Cruise People, Ltd. web site. Be sure to give us your phone number.
